Individuals must plan to apply to a health professions school to fulfill the sole eligibility requirement for taking the MCAT. MCAT exam eligibility for Indian students remains the same.
To qualify as an overseas student, one must be currently enrolled in or possess an MBBS degree. Indian students wishing to take the MCAT must secure ‘special permission’ if they do not plan to apply to a health professions school or are already enrolled in medical programs other than MBBS.
To request special permission, send an email to mcat@aamc.org, clearly explaining the reason for taking the exam.
The MCAT examination office will evaluate and review the request and will respond within five business days. Prospective candidates should be aware of the relevant MCAT registration deadlines.
The MCAT is administered at international testing centers and can be registered for on the official website, students-residents.aamc.org. To sign up for this examination, follow the steps detailed below.
By setting up an account, candidates can generate their AAMC ID and create a password.
Fill in the required contact, background, and educational information.
Select a preferred test date and testing location.
Agree to the Examinee contract.
Schedule the MCAT exam based on the candidate's convenience.
Students in India intending to take the Medical College Admission Test must pay approximately USD 345 (INR 29,835) for the MCAT registration fee. To take the test outside of the USA, Canada, and U.S. territories, an additional USD 120 (INR 10,377) international fee is required. This fee cannot be refunded.
